Farmhouse Hurwenen
Farmhouse Hurwenen. This former apple farm is situated in the village of Hurwenen. The plot lies next to the dyke of the river Waal with on the river side a nature reserve and on the landward side the characteristic elongated main street of the village.
The client wished to develop a new dwelling based on the T-farm, a traditional form of agricultural building found in the area. The new dwelling is intended as an extension of the series of existing T-farms and dwellings which are orientated to the main street of the village. Important characteristics of this setting are the maintenance of views between buildings to the landscape beyond, clear hierarchy of building typologies, and the use of landscaping and planting which are peculiar to the area.
