Remodelling apartment Brouwersgracht Amsterdam
Remodelling apartment Brouwersgracht Amsterdam. This apartment on the top two floors of a monumental former brewers’ warehouse dating from the 18th century has been completely renovated and remodelled. The most important intervention is the introduction of more light into the heart of the house. A large rooflight and void have been introduced. The upper storey has been divided into a front and back house connected by a glass bridge across the void.
The whole house has been stripped of the various panelling, coving and superfluous carpentry which have been added in recent decades and returned to its original state. The roof beams have been stripped. The lower-level living area (light) contrasts with the upper sleeping level (dark). These two worlds meet in the double-height central part of the apartment. All fixed furniture is made by MaakHenk.
